My fiber art is grounded in and inspired by a variety of Early American arts: quilting, penny rugs, frakturs, and others. I enjoy combining design concepts and techniques for a fresh look with a touch of whimsy, but one that continues to look towards the richness of our historical heritage. Folk art is the artistic voice of the common people, whether decorative or functional, or both. It has been described as “the art of the everyday.”
My goal is to breathe new life into this “everyday” artistic heritage, through adaptation and re-imagining of designs and motifs using both traditional methods as well as newer techniques.
